Using your own Jabber client
If you are having problems with the Java jabber client, or you wish to use your own client, here are the settings you should use:
Jabber server: jabber.engineering.iastate.edu
Port: 5222
TLS: Enabled
old SSL: Off
Use plain text authentication: Disabled
Groupchat/Conference server: gc.jabber.engineering.iastate.edu
Groupchat/Conference room: rhel
If your jabber client does NOT support TLS, here are the settings you should use:
Jabber server: jabber.engineering.iastate.edu
Port: 5223
Old SSL: On
Use plain text authentication: Enabled
Groupchat/Conference server: gc.jabber.engineering.iastate.edu
Groupchat/Conference room: rhel
